Geneva, Switzerland - 14 December 2010

The Report findings were presented as part of the WHO/PEPFAR consultation on transformative scale-up of medicine, nursing and midwidery education on 14 December 2010. Chaired by Manuel Dayrit of WHO and Qian Tang of UNESCO, representatives from 22 countries in attendance brought insightful questions and examples from their countries of both the predicaments, but also the investments in the health professions. WHO and other partners are doing a series of consultations to achieve consensus on the investment needed to build a new generation of health workers. Many of the presentations reinforced the message of the Report, for example, on the need for interprofessionalism, social accountability, greater quality, investment and equity.
